Your new companyA Local Authority based in the East Midlands is looking for an Air Quality Officer to join their Environmental Health team.The role will undertake a variety of air-quality related tasks, helping to assist the Council with the delivery of its air quality action plan. Your new roleThe main duties of your new role will include: 1. To carry out general surveys, monitoring and/or measurements that may be required from time to time.2. To work collaboratively with partners to deliver, monitor, evaluate and report on the DEFRA Air Quality Grant Project, elements of the Air Quality Action Plan and Smoke Control Area Legislation.3. To maintain a knowledge of relevant legislation, technology and information systems.4. To be responsible for ensuring that records are up-to-date and registers are satisfactorily maintained.5. To prepare and present reports as required.6. To ensure that all related information on the external website is relevant and up to date.7. Ensure communication with businesses and members of the public meet the highest standards to deliver a consistent and brilliant level of customer satisfaction.8. To prepare and implement promotional / educational programmes, visits, presentations and exhibitions.9. To be flexible in their approach to the work of the Environmental Services Team, and undertake any other duties as may be deemed necessary and where appropriate.What you'll need to succeedMust have
- 3 A Levels or equivalent
- Flexibility to carry out evening and weekend inspections and visits as required.
- Full current valid UK driving licence and a car available for work which is insured for business use.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise work and manage competing work demands.
- Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook, and Social Media.
Desirable
- A relevant degree in an environmental subject
- Experience working for a Local Authority
- A good understanding of environmental legislation
