Are you an experienced detail-oriented and motivated Credit Control professional with a proven track record of resolving bad debt? Do you have credit management experience or the desire to manage a team?

I have a brand new full-time contract to permanent Credit Manager opportunity offering to join a well-established, successful business, based in Leicestershire, who are experiencing further success and growth.

In this role you would be a new addition to manage the existing team of 12 credit control clerks across multiple sites, and join in a wider Finance team of 10.

About the Role:

The role is full time and hybrid and you will work within a vibrant open place office within the busy finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager. As a dedicated Credit Control Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of 12 across multiple sites, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts and allocating of cash received. Also play a key role in developing and implementing credit control policies and ensuring the financial health of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 12 credit control clerks across multiple sites.
  • Oversee and ensure the efficient collection of outstanding debts.
  • Oversee and monitor and assess customer accounts and their creditworthiness.
  • Develop and implement credit control policies.
  • Train, mentor and develop your team.
  • Ensure your team are maintain regular communication with customers to build positive relationships and ensure payment commitments are met.
  • Weekly/Monthly Aged Debtor reviews.
  • Unallocated cash review.
  • Stay informed about relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices related to credit control and debt collection.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end reporting for the credit control function.
  • Support the General Ledger team and assist with external audits, ensuring all required documentation and records are up to date.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Collaborate closely with the Sales, Operations, and Invoicing teams to resolve any disputes or issues related to customer accounts, ensuring billing accuracy and quick resolution of any discrepancies.
  • Manage escalated legal actions when necessary, including liaising with external legal advisors.

Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Credit Control Manager or in a senior credit control role, with a deep understanding of credit control processes and risk management.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a team to achieve targets.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage difficult situations and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong analytical skills and experience in using financial software to produce reports and manage accounts.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions to improve credit management and cash flow.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of credit policies, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with credit control and accounting software is preferred
  • Confident with basic Microsoft Excel tasks.
