We are currently recruiting for Local Authority seeking a Finance Business Partner to take a leading role in enhancing the provision of financial advice, analysis, and information within the Finance Business Partner Team. This role is crucial for supporting effective strategic decision-making and delivering the medium-term financial strategy.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Challenge and influence decision-makers to ensure optimal outcomes for the organisation.
  • Identify and support initiatives to improve the finance function, ensuring it meets statutory requirements and supports strategic outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of the Medium Term Financial Strategy and corporate transformation agenda.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to elected Members, Chief Officers, and Department Management Teams.
  • Develop management reports and systems to link financial information with operational activity and outcomes.
  • Ensure the implementation of financial management policies and procedures within the department.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis, and support the year-end closure of accounts.
  • Develop effective working relationships with external partners and represent the organisation at various levels.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA)
  • Experience in financial management within a complex organisation, preferably in the public sector.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex financial information to non-specialists.
  • Proven track record of managing and motivating staff, particularly through periods of change.
  • Excellent understanding of finance best practices, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively within a political environment and across various organisational levels.
