Macildowie are currently working with a large public sector-based organisation in Leicester to recruit a commercially-focused Head of Strategic Finance.

This unique organisation offers services and goods to both the private and public sectors and generates profit which is reinvested back into the local communities.

Due to an internal transition, the organisation is now seeking an experienced, dynamic Head of Strategic Finance to oversee the strategic and commercial finance functions. Reporting to the Commercial Financial Controller, the Head of Strategic Finance will lead a team of 5 finance professionals, including business partners, analysts, and assistants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the delivery of the organisation's medium-term financial plan.
  • Collaborating with senior business leaders to support decision-making and meet business targets in a volatile trading environment, including warehouse expansion and fluctuating inflation and product supply.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of accurate and insightful financial information, supporting informed decision-making and good governance. This includes managing weekly trading reports, monthly management accounts, quarterly reforecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Leading improvements to financial processes and services, with opportunities to make a visible, impactful difference that adds significant value to the organisation.
  • Managing a team, setting service levels and performance targets, and supporting the training and development of team members.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, strategic thinking, and commercial acumen, with a focus on driving financial improvements and supporting the organisation's long-term objectives.

Although this organisation operates as a not-for-profit entity, it is a commercial venture and as such applicants need to be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen, experience and skills ideally gained within a trading environment.

You will be a qualified candidate and possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills and leadership experience. The successful applicant will be rewarded with an attractive salary package and benefits, including access to the local government pension scheme, hybrid working c2 days per week in the office and generous holidays.
