A commercial organisation operating within the public and 3rd sectors is currently recruiting a Head of Strategic Finance to join the team on a permanent basis.
Due to promotion, they are now looking for an experienced and energetic candidate who will be responsible for strategic/commercial finance within the organisation.
Based in Leicester, they offer hybrid working and the expectation is that the role will be based in the office for 2 – 3 days per week. You would also receive the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) which will include around 23% employers contribution per annum.
Reporting into the Commercial Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a team of 5 business partners, analysts and assistants.
Role Purpose
Take a strategic lead in developing and improving the provision of financial advice, analysis and information to service departments to support effective strategic decision making and delivering the medium-term financial strategy.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing delivering the medium-term financial plan
- Engaging with senior business leaders to support decision making and delivery of their targets. They are about to build a warehouse extension and are trading in a volatile environment where inflation and product supply are constantly changing.
- Ensuring accurate, timely and insightful financial information is being provided to support good decision making and good governance. This includes all of the usual weekly trading reporting, monthly management accounts, quarterly reforecasts and annual budgets etc. Some of this you’ll oversee, some you’ll get involved in.
- Leading and enabling improvements to processes and services- There’s a lot of opportunity here and a real scope to make an impact which is visible to the business and adds a lot of value.
- Managing a team, setting service levels and performance targets, and training and developing team members.
Essential Criteria
- CCAB Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA)
- Experience in commercial trading businesses
- Experience in managing people and services and developing teams of staff.
- Experience in reviewing and improving processes
- Highly IT literate, being competent in using systems to efficiently manage data to extract insightful information.
- Strong in financial control, decisive and able to solve problems.
