Interim Finance Business Partner

Leicester (1 day in office 4 from home)

Join a Strategic Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, where you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing financial advice, analysis, and information. This position is pivotal in supporting strategic decision-making and contributing to the delivery of the medium-term financial strategy at a local authority.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Challenge and influence decision-makers to ensure optimal outcomes for the Council.
  • Identify and support initiatives to improve the finance function, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and alignment with customer needs and strategic outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy and corporate transformation agenda.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to elected Members, Chief Officers, and the Department Management Team.
  • Analyse detailed financial information and explain its strategic implications.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business to ensure financial advice enhances decision-making.
  • Support the development of management reports and systems to link financial data with operational activities and outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing efficiency improvements or service delivery enhancements.
  • Ensure the Council’s financial management policies are effectively communicated and implemented within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA
  • Experience in ensuring the integrity of financial information and resolving financial issues with practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with senior and operational managers
  • Experience communicating technical financial information to non-finance specialists in an understandable way.
  • Involvement in finance or business projects, with an understanding of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of best practices in finance, including reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
