Revenue Accounting Manager
  • Location: Leicester (Hybrid Working)
  • Salary: Up to £52,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a Revenue Accounting Manager, where you will leverage your expertise to maximise resources for a Local Government organisation. This pivotal role involves ensuring compliance with revenue reporting & tax requirements and providing strong leadership to enhance staff capabilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Accounting:

    • Lead the preparation and reporting of revenue monitoring reports reporting into Board.
    • Manage the preparation of working papers for the statement of accounts and respond timely to auditors.
    • Offer technical guidance on statutory reporting and financial strategy development.
    • Provide crucial financial information to SLT and Senior Managers to aid decisions.
  • Leading People:

    • Manage and develop a team responsible for revenue accounts, corporate budget monitoring, and taxation.
    • Supervise and train Trainee Accountants/Apprentices, and provide quarterly formal training and one-on-one sessions to budget managers.
    • Foster a team environment that encourages creativity and innovation, supporting their development and autonomy.
  • Taxation:

    • Oversee VAT and other indirect taxation processes, ensuring compliance and managing risks effectively.
    • Maintain timely and accurate completion of VAT returns and manage relationships with external taxation advisors.
  • Policy:

    • Stay updated with legislation and develop policies related to Indirect Taxation and budget changes.
    • Provide strategic advice on government policies and initiatives to senior leaders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Fully Qualified Accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA.
  • Exposure to managing a small established team creating a positive high performing culture. 
  • Thorough understanding of finance and accounting practices, with the ability to interpret and present complex financial information.
  • Experience with Tax & VAT is highly desirable but not essential. 
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
