Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a Financial Advisor for a Local Government organisation based in Leicestershire.

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive onsite school based financial and administrative management service in accordance with the service level agreement, local management of schools and appropriate regulations.

The duties of the Financial Advisor include:

  • Maintenance, control and monitoring of computer finance accounts and other related records to ensure that these meet with the requirements of the Local Management of Schools Scheme of Delegation and the appropriate financial regulations for a number of schools and colleges
  • Plan, prepare and evaluate annual school budgets in accordance with the school's development plan, through the provision of income and expenditure projections, using current information, legislation and historic spend patterns
  • To be able to project budgets for up to 5 years for longer term planning
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly detailed and complex financial reports and analysing data for the purpose of budget tracking for budget managers, headteachers/principals and for governors' meetings
  • To attend meetings as requested to advise governing bodies with accurate information
  • Ability to work with and support a number of different school-based staff and to be an integrated member of the School Financial Advisor Team

The ideal Financial Advisor will:

  • Finance qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 4
  • Experience in Bookkeeping/Accounting
  • Experience of working in a school office
  • Experience of using IT packages such as Microsoft office programmes, and using the SIMS accounting package would be desirable

The Financial Advisor will need to have excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet changing and tight deadlines
