We are seeking a dedicated Transport Officer to assist in the effective, efficient, and legally compliant delivery of passenger transport services. This role is crucial for ensuring that all transport activities are conducted smoothly and safely, adhering to all relevant regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support effective partnerships and maintain working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies, and communities.
  • Liaise and consult with various departments, establishments, managers, staff, parents/carers, other customers, and contractors, attending meetings to represent the Passenger Fleet Team professionally.
  • Ensure activities are delivered efficiently and effectively, organising fleet activities and vehicles optimally.
  • Prepare reports for Members, partners, customers, and stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Assist with the performance management of the team, applying creative and focused interventions to increase performance, productivity, and team morale.
  • Support the Team Manager and Transport Managers in employee selection, recruitment, induction, training and development, attendance management, monitoring, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Lead a dedicated team of employed staff and contingent workers, providing day-to-day supervision to all Drivers and Escorts to ensure operational aspects of the Passenger Fleet Unit operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure health and safety plans for individual passengers and routes are adhered to, develop risk assessments, method statements, and safe working practices for transport activities, and ensure all accidents and incidents are reported and investigated in writing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in transport management or a similar role.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management pertaining to passenger transport.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
