We are seeking a dedicated Transport Officer to join our Highways & Transportation team at County Hall. This role is crucial for the effective, efficient, and legally compliant delivery of passenger transport services, ensuring the well-being and mobility of the people of Leicestershire.
Day-to-day of the role:- Ensure the delivery of transport services benefits the residents of Leicestershire.
- Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with customers, colleagues, and various stakeholders including district and parish councils, the public, and contractors.
- Plan and procure passenger transport services efficiently using both manual processes and ICT systems.
- Conduct efficiency reviews related to the purchase of season tickets and transport for fare-paying passengers.
- Assist in managing relationships with in-house fleet management and external contractors, ensuring compliance with current standards.
- Coordinate and oversee the licensing and insurance of vehicles used in contracted services.
- Assist in organizing training for clients, contractors, and internal staff.
- Coordinate inspections related to contract time-keeping and operations.
- Maintain accurate records and manage transport databases and manual systems, providing timely management information.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of business processes and the organization of transport activities.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and handle complaints professionally.
- Proven experience in transport planning or a related field.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working cooperatively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Competency in using ICT systems for transport planning and procurement.
- Ability to adapt to varying work conditions and be flexible with work hours.
- Commitment to legal compliance and efficiency in public service delivery.
