This role focuses on helping Key Stage 2 and 3 students with challenging behaviour and special educational needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Offer guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to students with diverse needs.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages emotional resilience and self-regulation.
  • Implement behaviour intervention plans and use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging or disruptive behaviour effectively.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and families to support individual behaviour plans (IBPs) and tailored interventions.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with special educational needs (SEND), particularly in an SEMH or alternative provision setting.
  • A genuine passion for working within education and empowering vulnerable students.
  • A proactive approach to supporting students with complex behaviour and fostering emotional wellbeing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, staff, and families.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training and knowledge of child protection policies.
  • Ability to support students in a 1:1 or small group setting, using restorative practices and positive behaviour management.

To Be Eligible for This Role You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate with child barred list clearance, registered on the online update service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • A background in sports coaching, youth work, or physical education, with the ability to engage students through sports-based mentoring.
  • Training or qualifications in Team Teach, de-escalation techniques, or positive behaviour support (PBS).
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation strategies, and holistic education.

If you are a resilient, empathetic, and driven individual with a passion for inclusive education, we'd love to hear from you.
