Role Overview: Estimator - Roofing Industry

Leading Roofing company based in Leicester providing pitched and flat roofing services to end users and main contractors throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Project Plans and Specifications:
• Analyze project requirements from plans, specifications, and drawings to gain an understanding of the scope.
• Quantity Take-offs & Cost Estimation:
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs to prepare accurate cost estimates for roofing projects.
• Collaboration and Coordination:
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for accurate estimating.
• Cost-Saving and Value Engineering:
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options.
• Bid Proposal Preparation:
• Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals within established deadlines.
• Cost Data Management:
• Maintain a historical cost database to support future projects and ensure accuracy.

Candidate Profile:

• Industry Experience:
• Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, particularly within the flat roofing sector (Single Ply, Built-Up Felt, Liquid Applied, Hot Melt).
• Familiarity with roofing industry practices, cost structures, and specific technical requirements.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniques, especially within the roofing industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software and tools (e.g., Estimate, ), as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Skills & Attributes:
• Analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimations.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
• Additional Experience (Desirable):
• Experience in Commercial Roofing or Traditional Pitch Roofing would be an advantage.
