Role Overview: Estimator - Roofing Industry
Leading Roofing company based in Leicester providing pitched and flat roofing services to end users and main contractors throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review Project Plans and Specifications:
- Analyze project requirements from plans, specifications, and drawings to gain an understanding of the scope.
- Quantity Take-offs & Cost Estimation:
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs to prepare accurate cost estimates for roofing projects.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for accurate estimating.
- Cost-Saving and Value Engineering:
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering options.
- Bid Proposal Preparation:
- Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals within established deadlines.
- Cost Data Management:
- Maintain a historical cost database to support future projects and ensure accuracy.
Candidate Profile:
- Industry Experience:
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, particularly within the flat roofing sector (Single Ply, Built-Up Felt, Liquid Applied, Hot Melt).
- Familiarity with roofing industry practices, cost structures, and specific technical requirements.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniques, especially within the roofing industry.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software and tools (e.g., Estimate, ), as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Skills & Attributes:
- Analytical and mathematical skills to perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
- Additional Experience (Desirable):
- Experience in Commercial Roofing or Traditional Pitch Roofing would be an advantage.
