Their Electrical and Electronic Systems department is seeking a talented and passionate Senior Model Based Controls Engineer to lead the development of model based control software, (working left of the V-cycle).

Key Responsibilities as Senior Model Based Controls Engineer:

  • Serve as the technical lead for model-based control software and embedded systems.
  • Develop and manage drivetrain software and torque control features.
  • Review logical architectures, requirements, and Functional Safety (FuSa) requirements, converting these into software requirements, architectures, solutions, and appropriate documentation.
  • Review software architectures and solutions.
  • Define and review Human-System Interfaces (HSI) and control systems.
  • Interface with suppliers to deliver robust solutions, including:
    • APIs for hardware abstraction layers, board support packages, and basic software.
    • Suitable operating systems.
    • Accurate microcontroller loading estimations.
    • Memory requirements and other key resources.
  • Continuously improve and support the full lifecycle control systems process for use in chassis, powertrain, driveline, suspension, or HMI systems.
  • Manage control software to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Provide technical support to working groups and projects as appropriate.
  • Interface with the test and validation team to ensure appropriate Design Verification Plans (DVPs) and test coverage.
  • Maintain traceability of software units within the Model-Based Control Systems (MBCS).
  • Attend and disseminate information from seminars and conferences.
  • Undertake and assist with duties as required by your manager.

Qualifications and Skills as Senior Model Based Controls Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in model-based engineering, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proven experience in leading full V-Cycle development, including controls theory, requirements capture/management, and test case generation.
  • High proficiency in Matlab Simulink for logic development, auto-coding, and debugging on target hardware.
  • High proficiency in vehicle communication systems (CAN, LIN) design, development, and simulation/analysis tools.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems and electronics.
  • Strong understanding of system engineering principles, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and chair work product review meetings.
