Rate Of Pay: £11.55 - £12 per hour

Shift Patterns: 40 hours per week

Information about the Role:

Working as a Patient Safety Officer at Sturdee community hospital your duties will include the following:

  • Develop and implement safety policies to reduce accident-related costs and inefficiencies.
  • Monitors potential and actual environmental hazards.? Participate in root and apparent cause analysis.
  • Initiates?and oversees the development of a comprehensive patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data related to services initiatives.
  • Coordinates the environment of care, safety, security, emergency preparedness, medical equipment, hazardous materials and waste management, life safety, and utilities as they directly relate to the health care setting and the overall environment of care.
  • Develops and implements education programs and materials to train staff to detect, mitigate, and avoid workplace hazards.? Provides technical guidance to management, surveyors, and other appropriate parties regarding occupational health and safety-related problems regarding accreditation standards.
  • Maintains regulatory readiness documentation, ensuring system is in compliance with regulatory standards and that they personnel are trained and ready for regulatory inspections.
  • Participates in incident investigation to identify causal factors to determine how incidents might be prevented in the future.
  • Works collaboratively with department heads to ensure that high quality work is performed, cost effective services are provided to patients and all users within the facility by monitoring standards of practice, customer satisfaction, operational and personnel budgets, and staff performance.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations, standards and accreditation requirements for area of responsibility.
  • Trains and updates employees on compliance requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Sturdee Community Hospital offers a flexible environment designed to support each patient’s progress along their rehab pathway. Sturdee Hospital is a 31 bedded hospital in Leicester, providing a holistic service for women between 18-65 with complex mental health needs that include: personality disorder; serious and enduring mental illness; co-morbidity; and a history of complex trauma.
