Aspire People are seeking a Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position in a supportive primary school in Leicester (LE5). The role offers a competitive daily rate of 90-110, depending on your experience and qualifications. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and empathetic individual with experience supporting students with behavioural challenges to make a real difference in a student's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Behaviour Support: Provide individual and group support to students with challenging behaviours, implementing strategies to help them stay engaged and focused in the classroom.
Mentoring: Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering emotional and academic support to help them develop self-regulation skills and improve their behaviour.
Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to plan and implement effective behavioural strategies and interventions.
Supportive Learning Environment: Help create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued and encouraged to succeed, while supporting their personal and social development.
Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor student progress, including behavioural development, and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents.
Classroom Management: Assist the teacher in maintaining a positive and calm classroom environment, promoting positive behaviour and supporting effective learning.
Essential Requirements:
Experience: Prior experience working with children in a school or behavioural support setting, ideally with students who have additional needs or behavioural challenges.
Patience and Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support students with patience, understanding, and a positive attitude.
Behaviour Management Training: Any relevant training in behaviour management techniques (such as Team-Teach, Restorative Practice, or similar) is highly desirable.
DBS: A DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and engage with students, staff, and parents.
Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
