Head of Professional Development Services

across the UK as required.

Salary starting from £68,259.

Full time

The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is the leading professional association and trade union for all school and college leaders. We are proud to support and represent more than 25,000 members throughout the UK in primary, secondary and post-16 education who lead their schools and colleges to help to shape the future of the national education system and provide high quality professional development opportunities.

ASCL is seeking to appoint a Head of Professional Development Services. This role will report to the Senior Director of Strategy, Policy and Professional Development Services.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join one of the most respected and influential organisations in UK education, at a pivotal point in our development.

ASCL Professional Development Services (ASCL PD) is a go-to provider of learning, development and consultancy services for school, trust and college leaders. ASCL PD has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, and we’re now looking for the right person to take the business even further, ensuring that the work of ASCL PD complements and strengthens ASCL’s wider offer to members and non-members.

You will be responsible for ensuring the continued success of ASCL PD’s current products, services and events, including our flagship annual conference, which attracts over 1000 delegates every year to hear high-profile political and inspirational speakers. You will also have the opportunity to develop a new growth strategy for the PD business, and to develop and deliver new categories of products and services, working closely with colleagues across the organisation.

You will manage a small team of experienced and high-performing staff, each focused on different elements of the PD business, and sit on ASCL’s extended leadership group.

The right candidate will bring enthusiasm, strong organisational skills, a willingness to roll their sleeves up, an understanding of professional development in the education sector, and the capacity and desire to take an already successful business and make it even stronger.

This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £68,259 - £75,310 per annum. This is hybrid role, with the postholder expected to spend time working at home, at ASCL HQ in Leicester (frequency to be agreed at interview), and at other locations across the UK as required, with overnight stays as necessary.

ASCL is an equal opportunities employer and offers a very generous package of benefits, including 33 days holiday plus bank holidays and a pension scheme to which the association contributes 9%. Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are also covered, including a working from home

allowance. We encourage applications regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
