We are currently recruiting for a Construction Claims Technician in the Leicestershire area, This role offers a Hybrid work pattern and a fantastic salary as well as other benefits.

Prior claims experience is not required however it would be useful, If you have Experience dealing with accounts payable, credit control, Completion of work Certifcation with the Construction industry this is a great opportunity to transfer those skills into a Career within Insurance.

The Construction Claims Technician is responsible for the investigation, examination, negotiation, and settlement of credit insurance claims, with a primary focus on construction claims made by sub-contractors and suppliers within the construction sector. This role may also involve claims assessments in other industries. Full claims training will be provided to candidates with prior construction experience or knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine and assess claims submitted, including settlements within agreed authority schedules and specified timescales.
  • Set up, review, and pay claims using bespoke IT systems.
  • Record and monitor insolvency dates that form the claim event.
  • Assess opportunities to mitigate losses and follow up with ongoing communication.
  • Analytically assess claims, applying judgment to uncertified applications and final accounts.
  • Calculate reserves and input them into the claims system.
  • Confirm insolvency events, collect loss information, and record it.
  • Liaise with Insolvency Practitioners and external stakeholders.
  • Identify fraudulent claims.
  • Attend creditors' meetings, assist with proofs of debt and proxies, and follow up on dividends.
  • Report potential large losses and communicate concerns to Risk/Underwriters.
  • Handle general email and telephone queries.
  • Maintain claims documentation in a paperless filing system.
  • Liaise with underwriters and advise policyholders on claims procedures and coverage.
  • Manage client and broker relationships as required.
  • Actively seek better ways to perform tasks and ensure a professional and fair approach at all times.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as instructed by the Claims Manager.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a confident telephone manner.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to assess complex matters and report succinctly.
  • Flexible, proactive attitude and team player.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn and challenge norms.

Desirable:

  • Degree/BTEC/professional qualification in a construction-related subject.
  • Accountancy or surveying experience within a construction company.
  • Membership in the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), or working towards qualification.
  • Experience in Credit Management, Accounts Receivable, or Accounts Payable.
  • Degree in an analytical subject (e.g., economics, law, history).
