Responsibilities:

Task:

  • Ensure plant and equipment downtime is minimised, and building upkeep is maximized through efficient response times, continuous improvements, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Maintain a positive focus on costs, quality, and health and safety.
  • Monitor production OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and work to improve these metrics.
  • Maintain allergen awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with site security procedures at all times.

Team:

  • Keep team members informed of ongoing projects, breakdown issues, temporary repairs, and modifications.
  • Foster a proactive and harmonious team culture by providing support, assistance, advice, or specific skills and knowledge when needed.

Individual:

  • Ensure compliance with company HR, Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments as required.
  • Perform additional duties, projects, or responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or designate.
  • Refrain from performing any task deemed unsafe or that compromises product integrity or the safety of others.

Key Tasks:

  • Apply electrical and mechanical diagnostic/fault-finding techniques and perform remedial work during breakdowns.
  • Exhibit electrical and mechanical competencies; welding, basic machining, and fabrication skills are advantageous.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on line performance and stoppages.
  • Perform TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and production line monitoring.
  • Carry out health and safety checks to ensure equipment compliance.
  • Record tasks and store withdrawals while adhering to all quality system requirements and raising non-conformities as necessary.
  • Maintain preparation, tidiness, and cleanliness of work areas and stores, following a "clean as you go" policy.
  • Adhere to and implement all company procedures.

Team Responsibilities:

  • Operate within a shift system requiring integration and cooperation across various tasks, communication, and technical liaison at all levels.
  • Participate in weekly maintenance shutdowns, collaborating with other engineers on allocated tasks.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance and monitoring of production machinery, water, steam, freezing, and air systems in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure consistent uptime of plant and building during shifts, performing tasks efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • Attend relevant training courses, including Company Induction, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, and Food Safety training.
  • Obtain and maintain a current Level 2 Food Safety certificate.
  • Ensure the upkeep, control, and cleanliness of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report any issues on the production line to relevant managers or departments promptly.
  • Participate in the review of risk assessments and procedures with the Maintenance Manager and/or Health & Safety Manager.
  • Attend regular department meetings and participate in projects as required.
  • Fulfill all personal and role responsibilities under the company Health & Safety Policy and procedures.

Competencies Required:

  • General craft skills.
  • Electrical and mechanical skills to C&G level/NVQ equivalent.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Even-tempered, consistent, and responsible attitude.
  • Honesty, integrity, motivation, and reliability.
  • Can-do attitude with a sense of urgency.
  • Alertness and sound common sense.
