Premier Engineering is working with a well-established engineering company based in Leicester that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role is ideal for someone with machinery design experience and strong proficiency in SolidWorks.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in mechanical design, specifically within machinery or automation.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and technical drawings.
- Experience with fabrication, sheet metal, and machined component design.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive systems is desirable.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
- Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and design documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Designing and developing machinery and automated systems using SolidWorks.
- Producing detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Generating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborating with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
- Conducting design reviews, testing, and implementing design modifications where necessary.
- Working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
