Senior / Junior Design Engineer Permanent Full-Time Salary - Circa £30,000 DOELocation - In office, Leicester With almost a century of engineering expertise, our client specialises in precision taping and winding machines. These machines serve various applications, including manufacturing electrical components, cables, and more. They also produce materials like Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (RTP) and Sub- Sea Umbilical Cables for Oil & Gas and Sub-Sea connections.The company is recruiting an experienced Senior or Junior Design Engineer to oversee design and engineering, reporting to the Operations Director. Potential for future advancement within the company exists. The role offers comprehensive training and support on all existing machinery.Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Perform design, research and development activities to assist the completion of all company projects on time, in full and to agreed budget
  • Monitor the work activities against plan to ensure all work meets agreed deadlines and allocated hours
  • Ensure products are designed for lowest overall manufactured cost and with ease of assembly & maintenance
  • Maintain project files information, ensuring accuracy, completion and version control
  • All new parts and assemblies/sub-assemblies created are to be given the best estimated cost, as well as assembly routing in the current MRP system including estimated hours for all associate activities, BOMs, and assembly instructions
  • Support the requirement to ensure that products conform to appropriate technical standards & directives (e.g. CE) as well as Health & Safety legislation
  • Support customers with engineering, design and technical information
  • Perform design handover to Purchasing & Assembly personnel, providing them with all necessary information to procure, manufacture and assemble the product according to the design intent
  • Support in the maintenance of KPI's
  • Provide concept drawings/models for new, revised or special machines

Experiences required

  • Suitable qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in designing special purpose/industrial/automation equipment
  • Engineering design & analytical skills: DFMEA, calculations using engineering standards
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD ideally SolidWorks or Inventor/Solid Edge/Fusion 360
  • Produce detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)
