JOB - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION - Leicester
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £45,000 to £70,000 per annum

Premier Engineering is currently working with a leading engineering company based in Leicester. They are looking to expand their design team by hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead complex projects and drive innovation in their product offerings.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC).
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design, preferably in special-purpose machinery, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (AutodeskInventor).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Proven experience managing projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex design challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Leading the design and development of innovative mechanical systems and products.
  • Creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Conducting design reviews and making improvements based on feedback and testing.
  • Producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated documentation for manufacturing.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure seamless production.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the team.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering on time and within budget.
