Hays Education are currently seeking Cover Supervisors to work at mainstream Secondary schools in Leicester, providing day to day or long-term cover. Whether you're looking for supply work, long-term positions or a permanent role.

Your new role

Working as a Cover Supervisor through Hays, you will benefit from working in a variety of schools without the pressures of planning or marking! Cover Supervisors normally work under the guidance of subject leaders, implementing agreed work programs for either whole classes, groups or individual students both inside and outside the classroom.

As a Cover Supervisor, some of your duties will include:

  • Supporting, advising, guiding and supervising students throughout the school day.
  • Supporting classes in the absence of the timetabled staff/teacher
  • Delivering the cover work established in the absence of the teacher
  • To have a primary focus on maintaining good order and ensuring students are on task so that learning can take place.
  • Assist with the smooth and efficient running of the school
  • Supervising learning and assisting with form time activities.
  • Break time and lunchtime duties
  • Lesson time picking up trawls and invigilating internal and external examinations.

What you'll need to succeed

You must have relevant experience working with 11 - 16-year-olds within the last 2 years, and we must be able to obtain relevant references for this time. You should have a professional manner and a flexible attitude to working and timetable changes.Most importantly, you should be enthusiastic, engaging and passionate about working with young people. Strong behaviour management and the ability to implement schools' behaviour polices is also essential
