Empowering Learning are looking for a Teacher/Tutor to work in a SEMH Provision in Leicester. The ideal candidate should have experience of working with SEND children, though this is not essential. The ability to teach a range of age groups and individual needs would be highly advantageous. Both Part time and Full time would be considered for this role.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Tutoring or training experience
  • Experience of leading learning sessions.
  • High level of understanding different SEND and learning styles
  • Have the ability to teach across the age groups.
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary age curriculum expectations
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teaching multiple subjects within SEND school.
  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.
  • Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
  • Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
  • Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
  • Possible supervising on lunch and break times
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Building relationships with staff and pupils
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
  • Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
  • To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
  • Potentially lead in a subject area
  • Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
