Payroll and Pensions Advisor

Hays are currently working with an exceptional company in Leicester to find a talented Payroll and Pensions Advisor on a full-time permanent basis.

DetailsWorking pattern: Full-Time, Hybrid (minimum 2 days in the office) Salary: £26,338.00 - £30, 805.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll and pension processes efficiently, ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation.
  • Manage monthly payroll, including pensions data and audit checks.
  • Resolve payroll queries and ensure accurate tax, NI, and pension treatment.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain payroll and pensions data archiving in accordance with GDPR.
  • Prepare urgent ad-hoc payments outside of the main pay run.
  • Record and submit pension data for LGPS, TPS, and USS.
  • Provide advice and training on payroll and pensions issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

Technical Requirements:

  • CIPP qualification or 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • In-depth payroll knowledge from New Starter to Leaver.
  • Experience in Education or Public sector payroll (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of TPS, LGPS, USS, and UCRSS (Desirable).
  • Experience with HR, Payroll & Finance systems (e.g., SAP, iTrent).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (VLOOKUPs & Pivot Tables).

  • Plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Remain calm and resilient under pressure.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate professionally with customers at all levels.
  • Convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

Personal Effectiveness:

  • Suggest innovative solutions to improve service delivery.
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers.
