Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Policy & Research Officer to join Leicestershire Police.

This role would be working Monday to Friday, based at the Force HQ in Enderby. The rate is £15.79 per hour. This is a temp to perm role.

The role: To work with the Police and Crime Commissioner to develop policy positions on a range of topics. To research national and international best practice and distilling the latest research from relevant organisations including think tanks, local authorities and others to create briefings and policy recommendations. To provide relevant and accurate information to assist and enable the analytical process to take place effectively, which will inform and influence decisions allowing the effective deployment of operational resources.

Essential Criteria:

  • To be educated to degree level or to have significant experience in a role requiring a similar level of skills.
  • To be computer literate and have experience of Windows environment and use of Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel.
  • Experience in policy development and be able to demonstrate the ability to work both within technical detail and strategic context.
  • Experience of researching, analysing and summarising information to inform decisions based on the best available evidence.
  • Be able to present complex information clearly and concisely, in a range or formats and to different audiences.
  • Ability to identify policy-based issues and devising creative solutions to address them.

Core Responsibilities:

  • To support the development and implementation of a wide range of policies, plans and strategies.
  • Undertake research and analysis of local, national and (where relevant) international practices related to areas of the Police and Crime Plan.
  • To use research to create briefings and proposals for the PCC for development of new policy and delivery approaches to achieve the objectives of the Police and Crime Plan.
  • To collect, audit, prepare and present both qualitative and quantitative data, including statistics, using computer statistical presentation packages where appropriate.
  • To assist the team in the preparation and presentation of reports needed for the PCC to be able to fulfil his role.
  • Maintain professional awareness and horizon scan for future developments, with a commitment to own and organisational development.
  • Engage with regional and national partners and organisations to improve the OPCC's delivery, and to share best practice with others.
