Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks & Civil Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our clients dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of large-scale construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the commercial management of projects, ensuring financial control from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, ensuring value for money and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct cost reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Handle contract negotiations, variations, and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure the successful delivery of:
    • Foundations (inclusive of all types).
    • Heavy civils work.
    • Internal drainage and services installation.
    • Utility network development.
    • Infrastructure improvements and enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide detailed commercial advice and support to project managers and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks and civil engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost management, and procurement.
  • Experience managing complex infrastructure projects, including drainage, utilities, and foundations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare detailed financial reports.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • RICS or CIOB accreditation (preferred but not essential).
