A leading national house builder are looking to recruit a Trainee QS or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work from their office in Leicester,East MidlandsThe role:Reporting to the Commercial Manager assisting with responsibility for the financial performance of house building projects in a team of Quantity Surveyors and working with other commercial teams.Overall responsibilities of the role:Assist in the commercial function and reporting for projects within the region including sub-contract procurement, payments, benchmarking, rebates, WIP, cashflows and valuations.Monitor and report build costs periodically reporting any savings and excessesAssist in the monitoring and evaluation of Contractor performance.Management of external consultants involved in the commercial function.Key activities:Scheduling and quantifying materials and labourCommercial ManagementMonitor and report costsBe aware of all codes of practice that impact on surveying e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.Monitor, reconcile and recharge any costs, which relate to shared cost items with either other businesses within the Group or external Companies.Attend pre-start, specification and any other relevant meeting as required under the Company's Operating framework.Input and maintain any computer based databases or systems.Be aware of all codes of practice that impact on surveying e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.Monitor, reconcile and recharge any costs, which relate to shared cost items with either other businesses within the Group or external Companies.Attend pre-start, specification and any other relevant meeting as required under the Company's Operating framework.The Company:A privately owned national house builder who are one of the largest in the UK. They operate from 24 regional offices across the United Kingdom.
