Automation Engineer / PLC Programmer
- £50,000 - £55,000 + Company Car + Package
- Head Office based in Leicester with travel required to customer sites and overnight stays (once or twice a month on average)
- Monday to Friday office hours (8am to 4pm)

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems tailored for automated processes, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Write, test, and maintain PLC software using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
- Utilise AutoCAD for designing control panel layouts and electrical schematics.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of control panels and PLC systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of existing control systems, identifying and resolving issues effectively.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and project reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met and aligned with company standards.
Qualifications:
- Time Served / City and Guilds Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- TUV or CMSE qualification would be highly advantageous.
- Proven experience in PLC programming and control system design, with hands-on experience in installation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for designing electrical schematics and control panel layouts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with Siemens, Schneider and Allen Bradley PLCs.
- Experience with combustion / burner controls.
- Experience in industries such as manufacturing, food processing, or energy.
- Experience with Combined Heat and Power
