Local Neighbourhood Community Support Worker with experience providing advice on accessing social welfare benefits in a front line customer facing role is required for a well-established organisation based in Leicester, Leicestershire, East Midlands.

SALARY: £25,012 per annum pro- rata

LOCATION: Leicester, Leicestershire, East Midlands

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 11.5 hours per week (Wednesday & Thursday preferred)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Local Neighbourhood Community Support Worker with experience providing advice on accessing social welfare benefits in a front line customer facing role.

Working as a Local Neighbourhood Community Support Worker you will work with the local community as part of the Neighbourhood Support Team’s (NST) strategic response to the priorities of the Neighbourhood Action Plan.

As a Local Neighbourhood Community Support Worker you will be required to provide advice and guidance to customers, tracking progress made and maintaining accurate records.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Local Neighbourhood Community Support Worker will include:

  • Provide first line advice and guidance to new and existing clients in a one to one setting, assessing their circumstances, diagnosing their needs and determining the most suitable provision for them
  • Assist service users in making informed choices and to work effectively as a team member in sharing information and supporting colleagues in the delivery of services
  • Promote and develop strong links and effective relationships with partner organisations
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, in order to track progress made and registering outcomes using the CRM system
  • Assist the Neighbourhood Support Service Manager in the continued development and operation of an innovative Neighbourhood Management model
  • Support the promotion of equality and community cohesion throughout your working practices- engaging local communities to develop cross-cultural and intergenerational activities and events
  • Ensure that the Neighbourhood Support Base (NSB) and other Neighbourhood Support Team (NST) services offer residents, including volunteers and other users, a welcoming and safe service
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training and events
  • Undertake administrative and maintenance duties
  • Undertake consultations in-line with the Neighbourhood Action Plan
  • Work outside normal office hours and at weekends as and when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of providing support and information on accessing social welfare benefits
  • Experience of working in a frontline customer facing role
  • Understanding of how to refer and signpost to specialist organisations and services
  • Knowledge and understanding of housing and welfare benefits
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting vulnerable clients
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for both adult and child protection
  • An understanding of the needs of deprived communities and barriers and challenges facing individuals and service providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to help clients with paperwork and applications including for example housing applications, universal credit or PIP (Personal Independence Payment)
  • Ability to keep accurate records and a good understanding of the importance of data

DESIRABLE

  • A recognised Health & Social Care or Welfare qualification at Level 2 or other relevant qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence
