Information about the Role: As a Support Worker at Elizabeth House the main function of your role will be to provide exceptional care to service users, under the direction of the Registered Manager, in accordance with best practice, and in line with policy, procedures and legislation.

Working as a Support Worker at Elizabeth House your duties will include the following:

  • Assist service users individually as required to support them with daily routines and activities.
  • Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
  • Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
  • Ensure that service users’ rights are protected.
  • Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Observe service users ensuring a safe environment, protecting them from harm.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
  • Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
  • Maintain an awareness of Health and Safety requirements.

Information about the Service:

Our service at Elizabeth House provides a safe and stabilising environment for men and women who are in crisis, experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and requiring an emergency admission. Service users may be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act. Our aim is to provide high quality holistic, MDT based care to assess, treat and plan discharge of patients to further treatment and care in the community, in their local areas as needed.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:

  • Experience of working as a Support Worker in a similar Mental Health Service
  • Caring, kind and considerate.
  • Passionate about making a difference in someone else’s life.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
  • Able to build relationships with many different people and work flexibly.
  • Care certificate or NVQ in Healthcare
  • QCF Level 2 or 3
