Shift Patterns: Full time, 40 hours per week, Days

Information about the Role:

Working as an Activities Coordinator at Sturdee Community Hospital your duties will include the following:

路 To lead and encourage patients to join in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice, and dignity, to enable them to lead as full and active life as possible.

路 To create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events, inside and outside of the hospital, for patients to enjoy.

路 To work with each new patient to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities and needs to put together an individual leisure based plan and evaluate regularly.

路 To plan, organise and co-ordinate activities for active daily living for each patient individually and in groups that is considerate of individual risk assessments of patients

路 To work closely with the Occupational Therapy team to ensure effective planning and resource management

路 Plan and organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time.

路 Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit the

路 Observe care planning needs for patients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company鈥檚 policies and procedures

路 Contribute to MDT discussions on the well-being of patients

路 Escort patients travelling to and from the location to activities

路 Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity.

Necessary Experience / Qualifications to work as an Activities Coordinator:

The post holder will have

路 6-months experience as an Activities Coordinator or 1 year working as an experienced Senior Support Worker/ Healthcare Assistant.

路 Some experience of working in a hospital with people with diagnosed mental health conditions.

路 An awareness of the Mental Health Act

路 Experience of severe and complex challenging behaviour

路 A resilient nature and the ability to work alone as well as in a team of healthcare professionals.

路 The ability to work on a shift/rota pattern.

路 The right to the work in the UK

Sturdee Hospital is a 31 bedded hospital in Leicester, providing a holistic service for women between 18-65 with complex mental health needs that include: personality disorder; serious and enduring mental illness; co-morbidity; and a history of complex trauma.
