Faculty / Directorate

The Directorate of Engagement is responsible for various external engagement activities for the university, primarily categorised into four areas: civic engagement, alumni engagement, strategic collaborative and community partnerships, and fundraising. DMU is embedded in its locality and is committed to regular and sustained engagement with the people and organisations within our local communities, many of whom are involved in creative and cultural initiatives across the city of Leicester.

Role

We are seeking a Cultural Engagement Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our Engagement and Partnerships team. The post holder will be expected to continue the work of developing cultural networks within the city and region while collaborating with partners to create innovative projects that support both the student experience and community outcomes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join a highly motivated team, to assist in managing existing networks and developing new partnerships for DMU that will provide opportunities for students to engage with communities and organisations across Leicester. The successful candidate will work alongside both the Head of Engagement and Partnerships and the Public Engagement Manager to continue supporting a strategic approach to cultural partnerships in the city, ensuring they deliver high-quality outcomes for both students and partners

Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you will possess a good level of education (degree or equivalent), excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in partnership and contract management. Additionally, you should have an understanding of the cultural and community landscape in the city and region, an appreciation of the impact that wider engagement has on enhancing the overall student experience, empathy for the goals of DMU, and awareness of the current challenges within higher education and cultural engagement
