We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Class Teacher to join the school from April 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Key Stage 3 students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, ensuring they receive a high-quality, inclusive education tailored to their individual needs.Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with PMLD.
  • Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with the SENCO, parents, and other professionals.
  • Classroom Management: Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the well-being and development of all students.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Regularly assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide detailed reports to parents and other stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to support the holistic development of each student.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and PMLD.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children with PMLD, preferably within a Key Stage 3 setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEN policies, legislation, and best practices in teaching students with PMLD.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. The ability to differentiate instruction and manage a diverse classroom.
  • Attributes: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional Qualifications: SENCO qualification or other relevant SEN training.
  • Experience: Experience with alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS) and assistive technologies.
