We are seeking a Procurement Manager to provide decisive and effective leadership within our Procurement Services division. This role is crucial for managing high-value/risk procurement activities that support the council’s strategic objectives, ensuring service delivery and efficiency savings.
Day-to-day of the role:- Lead and manage a team of procurement staff, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance to ensure high levels of organisational output.
- Develop and implement innovative procurement strategies that manage demand and deliver efficiency savings and strategic objectives.
- Oversee the procurement process from planning and market engagement to contract execution and evaluation.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal clients and suppliers to ensure that procurement processes align with the council’s goals and continue to offer value for money.
- Lead cross-functional project teams for significant procurement projects and contribute to the council’s broader procurement objectives.
- Deputise for the Head of Procurement as required and manage various ad-hoc projects that support the council’s procurement goals.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within procurement, ideally within a public sector or council environment.
- Strong understanding of procurement regulations, such as the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, capable of leading high-value/risk procurement projects.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic procurement plans that incorporate innovation and creativity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and develop a team and work collaboratively across different departments.
- Experience in managing change, delivering training on compliance and procurement, and promoting policies that drive economic regeneration and sustainability.
