We are seeking an experienced Estates Valuation Surveyor to join our Asset Strategy, Valuation, and Commercial Real Estate Teams. This role offers the opportunity to become an integral part of a professional team dedicated to delivering top-notch valuation and estate asset management services for the Council. You will play a key role in encouraging business growth, job creation, and developing our property investment fund, working with a diverse range of property types.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead on managing the Council’s property portfolio, dealing with a complex range of property-related issues including acquisitions, disposals, and lease negotiations.
  • Provide high-level professional advice on valuation issues to clients, working with internal and external teams to identify new investment opportunities.
  • Make recommendations for development and disposal to recover investment and generate a commercial return.
  • Prepare and monitor expenditure and income budgets, inspect land and buildings, and value various interests as required.
  • Support the management of the Estates function, attend decision-making boards, and deputise for the Service Manager when needed.
  • Supervise and manage staff, ensuring quality and quantity in their work.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in handling a complex range of property-related issues.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards and relevant legislation around land transactions and council assets.
  • Ability to recognise new opportunities to enhance the council’s asset base and prepare briefing notes for senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to non-specialists.
  • Professional membership of RICS (MRICS or FRICS).
