Warehouse Operative

My client based on Leighton Buzzard are looking for a Warehouse Operative, to join a small friendly team.

Salary: £23k plus bonus

Hours: 8.30am - 5.00pm Mon to Fri

Location: Office based, Leighton Buzzard

Job Summary

As a Warehouse Operative you will be an integral part of the company’s mission to maintain their reputation as the UK’s most recognised and warmly regarded Distributor in their field.

You will be a key member of the warehousing and logistics team and your focus is to carry out goods in/out/storage safely, accurately, and efficiently, to maintain high levels of service to customers and in turn help the company achieve its sales targets and objectives.

The nature of this role will involve a large proportion of physical work including lifting and carrying.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Goods in, goods out and general warehouse tasks
  • Unload pallets/deliveries from couriers
  • Ensure unloaded goods match the paperwork
  • Accurately book-in goods into the barcode scanning warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Safely and accurately store goods into their storage bins / shelves
  • Rotate goods between storage locations
  • Pick and pack goods, including heat-shrink wrapping
  • Create delivery labels for despatch and load courier vehicles
  • Resolve delivery discrepancies in liaison with the purchasing team and suppliers
  • Assist with inventory management and daily stock check tasks
  • Check weights on stock items as appropriate
  • Help keep the general warehouse environment clean, tidy, and safe
  • Report any missing or missing goods to Logistics Manager / Warehouse Supervisor
  • General administration for warehouse tasks

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Physical strength, fitness, and dexterity, as you will often have to lift heavy packages
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills to coordinate large volumes of goods
  • The ability to work effectively under limited supervision
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Experience working in a similar environment/department

Education, Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Good base of GCSEs or equivalent
  • A-C GSCE grades or equivalent in literacy and numeracy
  • Experience in warehousing / logistics
  • Any other qualifications / experience related to role
