Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 + Package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer to join our clients team in Suffolk. Candidates should have a background in Construction or Civil Engineering, with prior experience as a Senior Engineer in a Civil Engineering Highways setting being essential.
As a Senior Engineer, you will report to the Site Agent/Project Manager and will oversee engineering operations on the project. Your role will involve ensuring that construction aligns with contract drawings, specifications, and procedures while managing site and trainee engineers.
Key Responsibilities:Experience/Knowledge:
- Previous experience as a Senior Engineer (or equivalent) with a civil engineering contractor.
- Familiarity with general civil works in a highways context, including Site Clearance, Drainage & Service Ducts, Earthworks, Pavements, Kerbs & Footways, and Street Lighting.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and temporary works.
- Knowledgeable about specifications and testing processes relevant to civil engineering and highway works.
- Commercially aware, with experience in a cost-sensitive environment.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and team management abilities.
- Capability to address HSEQ matters and lead by example.
- Proficient in using BIM software.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or similar (preferred).
Qualifications:
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Membership with a relevant engineering institution or working towards it (preferred).
- Relevant health and safety certification.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving license.
- Write/check RAMS and TBS, communicate to the workforce, and monitor compliance.
- Contribute to safety targets and uphold a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe practices.
- Establish and implement site systems consistent with company standards, including health, safety, and quality systems.
- Ensure timely receipt of permits for works to proceed.
- Review short-term lookahead programmes and provide site feedback.
- Report on site issues that may cause delays or affect progress.
- Assist in identifying and resolving site issues impacting the programme.
- Familiarize yourself with design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate construction.
- Collaborate with the Temporary Works Coordinator to identify and communicate temporary works requirements.
- Raise Material Approval Records and procure materials according to the programme.
- Identify issues from drawings and specifications, raising queries with relevant parties as needed.
- Write/check Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure they are communicated and followed.
- Maintain organized QA records in line with ITPs and project requirements.
- Document, track, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) while sharing lessons learned.
- Compile quality handover documentation as per ITPs and handover criteria.
- Lead quality readiness reviews, capturing lessons learned and areas for improvement.
