Are you an expert in instrumentation and monitoring, looking to make a significant impact on one of the UK's most critical energy projects? Sizewell C (SZC) is seeking a skilled and experienced Instrumentation and Monitoring Lead to join our dynamic team.

Job Purpose / Overview
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering and managing all aspects of Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) for the SZC project. This includes data management, installation of monitoring equipment (either directly or via subcontractors), and ensuring collaborative I&M design processes with designers.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities, and Decisions

  • Maintain focus on Zero Harm: Support and drive initiatives that prioritize safety and sustainability.
  • Collaborative Delivery: Work with site teams and stakeholders to produce deliverables within strict deadlines.
  • Departmental Leadership: Establish and structure the I&M department at SZC, ensuring standardized formats for all deliverables.
  • Certification and Compliance: Ensure all I&M work is correctly certified and delivered per site programme, ITP, and LTQR requirements.
  • Monitoring Schemes: Develop realistic and achievable site-specific monitoring schemes, ensuring their implementation.
  • Data Management: Oversee the secure storage and archiving of I&M data, ensuring proper distribution to all relevant parties.
  • Early Engagement: Collaborate with design partners to ensure IFC deliverables are suitable for monitoring system installations.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share insights and lessons learned across Balfour Beatty survey communities.
  • Compliance: Manage compliance with the latest Company Business Management Systems and CDEs.
  • Subcontractor Management: Oversee I&M subcontractors and work closely with the commercial team on subcontracting needs.

Health Safety and Environment

  • Safe Working Systems: Implement safe working systems and drive hazard identification.
  • Site Safety Briefings: Create safety briefings, WPP, RA, and TBS documents.
  • Environmental Impact: Consider environmental impacts in survey data collection activities.

Engineering Control

  • Survey QA: Perform QA on design deliverables before release.
  • Information Provision: Ensure construction teams receive relevant information from I&M systems.
  • Independent Verification: Independently verify I&M designs throughout the construction process.

Quality

  • QA Records: Maintain QA records as required.
  • Data Management: Oversee the issuance of I&M data using specific software.

Commercial

  • Record Management: Manage, collate, and deliver I&M records to support commercial management.
  • Data Analysis and Staffing: Advise on data analysis, staffing levels, and training needs.
  • Commercial Risk Management: Identify and manage commercial risks associated with I&M works.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent industry-recognized qualification.
  • Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of I&M and data management procedures.
  • Proficiency in IT applications.
  • Experience with settlement monitoring systems, geotechnical monitoring systems, and managing I&M databases and teams.

Desirable

  • SMSTS qualification.
  • Full membership in a recognized professional institution such as CICES, RICS, or ICE.
