Project Manager (Construction)

Location: Sizewell C, Leiston , Suffolk (5 days a week onsite)
Employment basis: Full- time.
Salary: Competitive dependent on experience, plus bonus and other benefits.

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We're looking for a number of Project Managers from the construction or energy sector to join our expanding site team, working on site.

These are pivotal roles key to the success of the project, and you'll be joining the project at a vital time in its construction, with an opportunity to grow with the project.

The Role

You'll be based on site in Leiston, responsible for delivering a section of the site depending on your specific scope, within budget and on schedule to support the successful build of the project.

What You'll Do:

Lead and manage on-site project activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project objectives and milestones.

Implement best practices in project management to optimize efficiency and quality.

Oversee contractor and subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring smooth project progression.

What You'll Bring:

Proven experience as a Project Manager in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects, major complex projects (value size approx 18 mil plus), such as HS2, HPC, Thames Tideway, CrossRail, Transport for London (TfL).

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.

Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in the energy or construction sector.

Experience with NEC contracts with multiprogram construction background.

NEC 3 /4 or Constuction qualifications or other relevant memberships.

Ability to deliver contacts scope within fast pace and changing environment.

It'd be great if you've got a qualification in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
  • Demonstrate success in managing / developing:
    • Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
    • Multi-discipline EPCM projects,
    • Procurement and management of complex contracts,
    • Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
    • Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
  • Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming and risk tools.
  • Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment. Including NEC or FIDIC contracts.
  • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge and / or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either; APM body of knowledge and OGC's Prince 2.
  • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.

Desirable

  • Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
  • Understand how to apply a graded approach to quality
