We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to work on a nuclear construction site in Leiston.

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team for a network implementation project for a large, regulated construction environment. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the project's financial efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Responsibilities
• Compliance
o Ensure all activities comply with site safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
o Cost Management: Monitor and control project costs, ensuring expenditures are within the approved budget.
o Measure, submit and agree variations, loss & expense and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts.
o Attending contract review meetings.
o Preparing and issuing contractual notices to sub-contractors.

o Review of contract documentation upon receipt from client to ensure compatibility with the company's tender and subsequent negotiations.
o Assessment of contractual terms and conditions and negotiate amendments with the client where required by the Project Director. Ensure all contractual obligations are met, and handle any variations or change
o Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant & equipment and sub-contract packages.
o Review of quotations commercially and negotiation of price and terms with vendors
o Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or Invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
o Prepare detailed cost estimates and forecasts. Prepare regular financial reports, including cost tracking, variance analysis, and budget reconciliation. Report on project progress and financial health to stakeholders.
o Valuations and Payments: Conduct regular site visits to measure and value the work done. Certify progress payments and ensure accurate billing.
o Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.

Risk
o Producing commercial risk register. Monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures.

Critical Success Factors:

o Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Precise cost estimation and diligent financial tracking to prevent budget overruns.
o Effective Communication: Clear coordination with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely resolution of issues
o Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipating and addressing potential cost and procurement issues before they impact the project timeline or budget.
o Regulatory Adherence: Maintaining strict adherence to site safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure project compliance and safety.

The Quantity Surveyor's expertise in cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting is vital to the project's success, ensuring that the network implementation is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Experience
• Educated to a Degree level in Quantity Surveying or Building Services Engineering discipline.
• Experience of NEC contracts
• Demonstrable experience in a quantity surveyor role within with evidence of commercial management success
• Ability to influence and negotiate with proven experience in resolving difficult or disputed accounts to finality.
• Experience of Financial and Contract Management software packages (desirable)
Competencies
• Flexible approach to managing workload with the ability to work to deadlines.
• Has a passion and interest in emerging technologies within the Energy Market and supporting the drive to Net Zero.
• Good negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Able to work effectively as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

This will be site based for 5 days per week during the initial set up phase. Hybrid working arrangements will follow in due course.
