Pre Hire Plant Fitter - Level 2 Minimum Qualification

Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire

Salary: £36,000 to £40,000 per annum (depending on qualification)

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Overtime and occasional Saturday work will be required based on operational needs)

Our client is a rapidly growing plant hire business, headquartered in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. In operation for over five years, they have expanded significantly and now operate from five locations across the UK. They are proud to be part of the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group, a leading global brand in the construction machinery industry.

As part of their continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Pre Hire Plant Fitter to join their team based at their Herts Depot.

The Role

The Pre Hire Plant Fitter will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of a range of plant machinery. You will be expected to work independently on-site, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order, meeting the required safety standards and operating efficiently.

This is a full-time role, with the possibility of overtime and weekend work as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of plant machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair faults, ensuring all machinery is compliant with relevant safety standards.
  • Conduct inspections and keep accurate records of work carried out.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification).
  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance will also be considered, but please note the salary will reflect this qualification level.
  • Proven experience in plant machinery maintenance and repairs.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
  • CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively.
  • Previous experience in a plant fitter role is essential.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of plant equipment, including excavators, loaders, and access equipment.
