SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a welcoming primary school in Letchworth. This is an excellent opportunity to work with students with special educational needs, helping them to thrive academically and socially in a nurturing environment.

Role Overview:

• Provide tailored support to children with various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning difficulties
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to implement effective interventions and support strategies
• Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to track student progress
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer 1:1 and small group support to SEN students within the classroom and during school activities
• Adapt learning materials and teaching approaches to meet individual student needs
• Work in partnership with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for each child
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment that prioritises student well-being and development

Requirements:

• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a primary school setting with SEN students
• Understanding of various SEN needs and effective support strategies
• Excellent communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
• A proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
