We have an exciting new role become available for an Attraction & Recruitment Assistant to work for Sussex Police at their headquarters in Lewes.

This is a part-time position working hybrid 4 days per week, 7.4 hour days flexible Mon - Fri.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.

JOB PURPOSE: - To support a high profile/front facing, customer focussed recruitment and attraction team providing an efficient and effective professional service to all employees and stakeholders.

Working across a collaborated function, supporting the resourcing & L&PD administration requirements of Surrey and Sussex Police.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. To manage and expedite recruitment activities by offering advice and guidance to candidates and line managers, engaging with candidates who are progressing through a recruitment process and ensuring the function provides a quality customer service experience
  2. Assess candidates against set criteria at relevant recruitment stages and proceed or reject them accordingly. Escalate issues to the Attraction & Recruitment Advisor, or Attraction & Recruitment Team Leader where necessary.
  3. Communicate with a diverse range of customers, both internally and externally. Respond to queries via a range of technology types, or face to face, to ensure prompt and effective attention, follow up and resolution, or escalating to the Attraction & Recruitment Advisor or Attraction & Recruitment Team Leader as necessary
  4. Coordinate and allocate recruitment appointments, interviews, assessment centres and pre-employment check appointments in line with policy, procedure, and appropriate legislation. Facilitating these involves liaising with key stakeholders to arrange schedules, seeking support from key business partners, Occupational Health & Wellbeing, Vetting, trained interviewers, and business leads.
  5. Arranging and facilitating the biometric and substance misuse appointments, including overseeing, and taking of DNA and fingerprint samples in appropriate and environments.
  6. Interrogate system to determine upcoming priority workload, trends and highlight any issues. Notify key stakeholders on the progress of recruitment campaigns. This requires using reporting functionality of the HR Management System (HRMS) and the recruitment system and involve basic analysis and presentation of the information in the appropriate format for the required audience.
  7. Managing training course demand and coordinating the administration process of each course, whilst working closely with L&PD colleagues to effectively manage, expedite and resolve internal queries.
  8. Following up courses, including managing training and qualification records, providing advice to candidates and liaising with the College of Policing
  9. Assist in the training of new staff and supporting development
  10. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes, procedures, and work instructions in line with organisational priorities, best practice, current policy, and legislation.
  11. To work collaboratively within People Services and the wider workforce, providing a proactive and co-ordinated approach to driving continuous improvement and disseminating organisational learning.
  12. To undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent professional experience
  • Problem solving - ability to evaluate the complexity of problems and identify and understand the root cause (using evidence, intel etc). Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment, connecting the links to other business areas / issues. Ability to diagnose the cause, propose options for resolution and proactively deliver the solution themselves or through others
  • Communication - confident communicator with an ability to engage quickly and build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ability to competently contract, influence and articulate options and recommendations to deliver tangible outcomes
  • Stakeholder engagement - ability to build and maintain professional and credible relationships. Ability to manage and work with professional conflict to achieve positive organisational outcomes.
  • Project management - ability to prioritise conflicting demands and responding accordingly, with the capability to be flexible and to work to timescales and service level agreements.
  • Customer Service - Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with an ability to build rapport and promote the organisation to internal and external stakeholders. Using own discretion, maintaining high level of integrity, diplomacy, tact and confidentiality at all times.
  • System management - ability to do basic analysis of trends in data reporting to be able to produce clear summaries, and present accurate data, requiring a keen eye for detail.
  • Work flexibly across Surrey / Sussex to meet demand.
