We are looking for a Trainee Careers Adviser to work across the HM Prisoms at Lewes and Ford. You will help those in custody with Information, Advice and Guidance to build the skills and confidence they need. As part of a collaborative team, you will provide professional, impartial IAG to prison residents, motivate them, develop their work-related skills, and provide overall support to help them find employment, education, training, apprenticeships, or volunteering opportunities upon their release.

In this Trainee Careers Adviser role

  • You will receive comprehensive training, including a fully funded qualification in Careers Information Advice and Guidance.
  • You will have extensive work shadowing, practical experience, and on-the-job training.

You must also be able to build effective and professional relationships with individual clients, have a non-judgmental attitude, and desire to support people in fulfilling their potential.

Closing Date: 23rd September 2024 Interviews will be held on 1st October.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above
  • A commitment to complete the training for the role, including the professional IAG qualification
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • You must also be able to build effective and professional relationships with individual clients, have a non-judgmental attitude, and desire to support people in fulfilling their potential.
  • A commitment to undertake all necessary training for the role
  • Experience of working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Experience in managing a caseload of adults/young people to meet targeted outcomes

Desirable

  • An awareness of the issues affecting people, particularly the impact of social and economic disadvantage on personal motivation, confidence and ability to progress through education, employment and training
