Salary: From 27,500

A leading independent consultancy specialising in environment, planning, and sustainability is seeking motivated Ecologists to join their team based in Sussex. You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of sectors, supporting clients with a range of ecology services. Your responsibilities will include conducting protected species surveys, coordinating mitigation projects, advising clients on regulatory requirements, preparing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports, and leading a team of ecologists to deliver cost-effective project solutions.

The Role

Lead and deliver complex contracts, working closely with clients and their design teams to find solutions to their challenges.
Oversee and mentor junior staff, review technical work, and ensure high-quality report drafting.
Play a key role in business development by preparing costings, tendering for projects, and identifying opportunities for growth and diversification.

Ecologist Requirements

A relevant degree and 3+ years of professional experience.
Strong knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation.
Proven experience in fieldwork and report writing
Full membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM and a full UK driving licence.
Holding a Natural England protected species licence (e.g., Bat Class 2 or GCN Class 1).
Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
