Behaviour Mentor

This role is ideal if you have experience in SEN, a psychology, crimimology or sociology degree alternativley, have career aspirations to become a Youth Worker, Probation/Prison Officer, Criminal Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or SEN Teacher.

Are you keen to gain experience with children who have SEN?

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support children with moderate learning difficulties and, additional mental health needs. This school is based in Lewes for children aged 4-16 and, has speciailised in SEMH to provide exceptional education and support for traumatised children and young people.

You will be working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and therapists to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' learning, development and well-being.

Responsibilities of a Behaviour Mentor:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students.
  • Behaviour and pastoral support.
  • Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
  • Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students.
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
  • Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.

Requirements of a Behaviour Mentor:

  • Proactive approach.
  • Impose patience and, understanding.
  • Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • Be able to develop strong and positive relationships with children.
