We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a special school in East Sussex that has recently achieved a good Ofsted status. The school provides support to children who have experienced trauma and adversity, offering a challenging yet rewarding environment. The role involves working with small groups or on a one-to-one basis to assist students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the learning and development of students with complex behaviours and needs.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver small group and one-to-one lessons.
  • Help students develop self-belief and become effective learners.
  • Assist with the delivery of the GCSE English curriculum, ensuring students are prepared to achieve their qualifications.
  • Adapt to the unique and distinctive environment of the school to provide the best support for each child.
  • Engage with students to facilitate their academic and personal growth.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a special school setting.
  • Knowledge of the GCSE English curriculum is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with children who have experienced trauma.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to supporting students.
