A specialist school are actively looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with moderate learning difficulties and, additional mental health needs. This school is based in Lewes for children aged 4-16 and, has speciailised in SEMH to provide exceptional education and support for traumatised children and young people.

You will be working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and therapists to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' learning, development and well-being.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students.
  • Behaviour and pastoral support.
  • Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
  • Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students.
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
  • Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.
