We are currently working with a special school in East Sussex in the search for a dedicated teaching assistant. The school supports children with trauma which as you can imagine is a challenging service, however, they are well facilitated to support these students. Lessons run in small groups or 1 to 1, to support with the emotional and behavioural difficulties. This is a great time to join the school as they have recently received a good Ofsted status.Day to Day of the role:

  • Support the Class Teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum that meets the individual needs of pupils.
  • Assist in creating a safe, stimulating learning environment that encourages pupils’ emotional, academic, vocational, and physical development.
  • Engage with pupils to build resilience and promote independence.
  • Participate in the school’s continuous drive for success and celebration of achievements.
  • Liaise with specialist agencies and contribute to the school’s collaborative efforts with external partners.
  • Assisting with Individual Education Plans.
  • Providing feedback to pupils on progress and achievement under teacher guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH and associated needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
